I am heading to Vintage Jane tomorrow morning and will be working all day in the store. As always, I will be bringing a new selection of pillows and various other lovely items. My personal new favorite is this lamp. I bought the base at a yard sale and gave a thrift store lampshade a “shabby chic” upgrade by covering it with burlap and trimming it with vintage lace.
Let it shine!

I am back on the Vintage Jane blog today in order to share my recent experience shopping for treasures in a former sculptor’s mansion. Check out http://youresojane.blogspot.com/2012/05/bust-move.html for the full story.
So don’t just stand there, bust a move!

It has been all about pillows and tobacco sacks lately. Check out my newest creations that are destined for Janeville tomorrow. I even managed to make a couple of sets of beaded napkin rings.

I had to say good-bye to an old friend last week when my staple gun gave its last staple and called it quits. (I actually contemplated burying it in the backyard.) After shedding a couple of tears, I decided it was time to move on and quickly found a replacement.
Without skipping a beat, I pick up where I left off on my upholstery projects and even managed to squeeze in time to sew a few pillows. Please see below for a glimpse of what I have been making for Vintage Jane lately.

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you may have noticed that I often change my mind and find myself redoing a project. Even my very first blog post was about a settee that I reupholstered twice (Ready, Settee, Go!).So it should come as no surprise that I have already made a slight alteration to the tobacco sack wing chair that I recently featured on the Vintage Jane blog (http://youresojane.blogspot.com/2012/04/years-in-making.html).
After residing with the new chair in our living room for a couple of weeks, I quickly came to the conclusion that the room was a bit too crowded and starting to look “leggy.” In other words, we had too many chairs. I had no choice but to relocate the newest addition (the tobacco sack wing chair) to our guest room upstairs. This of course meant that a new fabric was needed for the seat cover in order to coordinate with the new surroundings. I have always had a strong affinity towards blue ticking stripes so this swatch of linen was the obvious choice.
While I was at it, I also felt compelled to sew a couple of new throw pillows for our guest beds to bring it all together.
These slight modifications yielded lovely results and I feel at peace once more.
And never fear, I have already reused that amazing flame stitch fabric that I removed from the wing chair on another chair that is headed to Vintage Jane this week.
