Last weekend the Hurts celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary as well as Jed’s first Father’s Day!  Jed appropriately took the day off on Friday and the whole family drove up the road to Greensboro for the Piedmont Triad farmer’s market.  We came home with a car full of peaches, blackberries, tomatoes, herbs, and other locally grown deliciousness to be used in our weekend menu.

On Saturday we headed to Hanging Rock for a picnic followed by a rather strenuous four mile hike.  We arrived home in time to exchange our iron gifts while celebrating over a bottle of champagne and a fabulous cheese plate.  As recovering vegetarians with a bottle of brunello beckoning us from our wine fridge, we found it only proper to let the wine inspire our dinner of lamb chops smothered in a pistachio and green olive tapenade served over polenta.   I think pictures speak louder than words.

On Sunday (a.k.a. Father’s Day), the whole family relaxed by the pool and Mattie Windsor took her first dip while sporting her snazzy new bathing suit.  All is well in Winston-Salem.
