As an admirer of silhouettes, I have been longing to have one created of my precocious red-head.  And after two and a half years, I finally got around to making one myself.

I wish I could brag about my drawing prowess, but alas, I am a tracer.  I started with this photo of Mattie Windsor picking grapes at a vineyard.

Next, I cropped the photograph to focus on Mattie Windsor’s profile.

Then I printed the photograph and cut out Mattie Windsor’s profile before tracing it directly onto a wooden frame.  Once this process was complete, I simply painted within the lines.

The ornate wooden oval frame was a souvenir from the Pasadena flea market from when Jed and I traveled to L.A. in April and provides an elegant setting for Mattie Windsor’s silhouette.
