mmm My New Year’s resolution is to remember to take “before pictures.” Sadly my only “before pictures” come as a result of reupholstering the same piece of furniture multiple times. See previous blog. This is generally how the scenario unfolds:
1. I see a ridiculously good deal at a yard sale or an abandoned piece of furniture on the side of the road.
2. I bring said piece of furniture home.
3. I have grand visions that involve fabric, an air compressor, a staple gun and/or paint to make said furniture into a masterpiece.
4. I wase no time getting to work transforming said furniture into grand vision.
5. I take a picture of the finished product and write a blog about it.
As you can clearly see, there is no “before picture” in the scenario illustrated above. For all you know, I could be buying all of this stuff at Pottery Barn.
This is of course the case involving these lovely chairs that I purchased at a yard sale for $5 each. When I originally brought them home, the wood was a drab brown stain and the cushions were covered in a fabulous gold vinyl. Somehow I was able to see beyond their 70’s exterior and knew the chairs had potential. I felt that a fresh coat of white paint and a natural linen fabric would make a fine upgrade. After a little sanding, painting and reupholstering, this was the final result. Please try to use your imagination to envision the “before picture” and I will do my best to keep my New Year’s resolution.
The backs of these chairs are just like the one I have that I told you about. It came with the back fabric part unattached, so I really did not know how to attach it once i recovered it. What I did do looks AWFUL…..will need to have a consultation about my chair when you venture out here on 1/31!
